What is Predictive DRS?
Predictive DRS is a new feature introduced in vSphere 6.5 which manages the load by predicting the workload based upon the utilization pattern. The utilization pattern data is provided by vRealize Operations Manager. For example, if the utilization is high daily at 10:00am, vRealize Operations manger will give the data to DRS and DRS will migrate the VMs automatically some time before to minimize the overhead.
How to configure Predictive DRS
Configure VMware vSphere Adapter in vRealize Operations Manager.
Click on Advanced Settings.
Change the value to TRUE for Provide data to vSphere Predictive DRS.
vRealize Operations Manager will start Collecting Data.
Edit the cluster for which Predictive DRS has to be configured.
In the DRS Section, enable the checkbox for Enable Predictive DRS.
Done! Based upon the utilization pattern DRS will migrate the VMs.
