Downgrade ESXi Server after an Upgrade

Imagine you have upgraded your ESXi Server and it didn’t go as planned and hence you need to downgrade again to the previous version. This post covers the basic steps to perform the downgrade operation.

This is the ESXi Server which I am trying to upgrade.

I am upgrading that to ESXi 6.5.

If something goes wrong and now if you wish to downgrade, while the booting process press Shift+R to enter the Recovery Mode.

It will show you the available versions and now Press Y to perform the Roll Back.

After the reboot, ESXi will be downgraded to the previous version.
