NSX Manager is the centralized management plane. Upon deployment of NSX Manager, it installs some VIBs (VXLAN, Distributed Routing, Distributed Firewall and user world agent) on the host when host preparation is initiated. It also injects a plugin into the WebClient which enables administration of NSX from WebClient.
NSX Pre-requisites
- Fully configured vCenter 5.5 or later with at-least 2 clusters (1 Management Cluster + 1 Compute Cluster)
- Distributed Switch with MTU more than 1600
- DNS and NTP properly configured
- Download NSX Manager from VMware.
Once, everything is set; Right-Click Management Cluster -> Deploy OVF Template and select the NSX Manager OVA which was downloaded.
Click Next.
Enable the Accept extra configuration options checkbox and click Next.
Accept the License Agreements and click Next.
Select you Management Cluster and click Next.
Select the Destination Datastore.
Select the Destination Portgroup.
Input the Admin account password and the IP details.
Enable Power on after deployment checkbox and click Finish.
Wait for the OVA to deploy and Power ON.
Open your browser and type in https://<Hostname or IP of NSX Manager>
